Dentist and Owner
I love helping people get the most out of their smile and bite and I'm very lucky to own this fantastic dental practice. My team are kind and gentle and I'm proud of what we have been able to achieve for patients since I came here in 2012. We build great relationships with our patients helping them to do everything from keeping their teeth for life, to re-building their smiles from scratch.
Growing up in the north of England, I became interested in dentistry as a young teenager after noticing people in my life had problems with their teeth. It concerned me when I became aware of people making food choices, hiding their smile and avoiding social situations such as photos due to their teeth. When I was 17 years old, my dentist agreed to let me observe her during a school holiday. My mum had taken me there for as long as I can remember: and I had been lucky with my teeth.
Watching my family’s dentist empathetically, gently and skillfully help our community with their dental problems brought me to a few realisations. Both how deeply affected people can be by problems with their teeth, but also the wonderful possibilities available to repair teeth and rehabilitate smiles. I also realised a lot of the luck I had experienced with my teeth was down to my mum and our family dentist helping me with prevention from a young age. It was at this point I decided that like my childhood dentist I too would get my sense of purpose in life from owning a boutique dental clinic where I could personally provide the best dental care.
I qualified as a dentist with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree in 2001 from the University of Sheffield. I then followed a structured professional training programme and achieved the diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2004.
In 2007 I was awarded a Master of Science Degree in Prosthodontics from the University of Manchester. Prosthodontics is enhancing, replacing and reinforcing teeth: with implants, bridges, veneers, crowns and dentures.
During 2011 and 2012 I completed the University of Sheffield's 18 month comprehensive One-to-one Implant Course using the Nobel Biocare implant system.
Between 2008 and 2012 I published several articles in peer reviewed dental journals and contributed e-learning material to the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
I fell for Melbourne as a repeat tourist and was thrilled to be able to move here permanently in 2012, gaining citizenship in 2017.
I am a member of the Australian Dental Association and actively update and refresh my knowledge.
It goes without saying that away from dentistry I enjoy time with my family. I enjoy cooking, but unfortunately, for my family, I won't exactly be appearing on MasterChef anytime soon. As the closest club to my practice, I became a Richmond FC member in 2012 to learn about the footy. The fan journey through their Premiership years made me a Tiger for life. I'll also always follow my boyhood soccer team Manchester City.
Dental Nurse
Hi my name is Lisa. I have been a dental assistant since 2008 and started to work for Luke in 2015. The best part of being at The Dentists is meeting all the lovely people who come to us as patients. You form a very strong bond with someone when they entrust their care to you and you help them on a journey to regain their smile.
In my spare time my favourite thing to do is spend time with my daughter and our dogs. We love to eat out and explore all the places that have been recommended by our patients. I also help my sister on occasions with wildlife rescues.
Dental Nurse
What I enjoy most working at The Dentists is to help a patient with their smile, it makes such a difference to them socially. I started dental assisting back in 2009 and have been working with Luke since 2013. My qualifications include: Certificate III In Dental Assisting, Certificate IV in Oral Health Promotion and Certificate IV in Dental Radiography. I enjoy travelling to somewhere new at least once a year. If I am not travelling I enjoy watching movies, reading and going out with my friends.
